nonzero
Habit tracker for iPhone and Android

Make every day nonzero.

Give every habit a minimum: one page, a ten-minute walk. A day only counts as a zero if you did nothing at all, and you never take two in a row.

How it works

Rules that forgive you.

  1. Every habit has a minimum

Set a full target and a minimum for each habit. On a hard day, one page still counts.

  2. Only nothing is a zero

Did any habit today, even just its minimum? Then today is nonzero.

  3. Never miss twice

Miss a day and come back the next, and your streak carries on with a gap. Only two zeros in a row end it.

  4. Rest is not a miss

Give any habit rest days, or pause everything for a holiday or an illness. Neither breaks a streak.

  5. Your month is a circle

One ring per habit, one slice per day. Filled is done, half is the minimum, a dot is rest, an outline is a miss.

  6. About two months

Each habit shows its way to becoming automatic: “Becoming a habit · 41 of 66 days”, then “Settled in”.

A zero is forgiven when the next day that counts is nonzero. It shows as a gap, and the streak carries on.

Two zeros in a row end the streak. The next nonzero day starts again at one, and counts as a comeback.

Rest is neutral. A rest day neither counts nor breaks anything.

The year

A year of nonzero days.

Every day of the year in one grid. The outlines are single misses, never two in a row. The dots are rest, and the quiet week in August is a paused holiday.

The app

Open, check, close.

  1. Today is nonzero.

Today shows what's due, each habit with Min and Done. One tap marks it, and the ring fills in.

  2. The month as a circle.

Tap a ring or a day to open it, and mark today or yesterday.

  3. Your year at a glance.

Every day, and tap one to open its month.

  4. Widgets.

Today and your month on your Home Screen, on iPhone and Android.

  • One reminder a day, at the time you choose. Never a pile of them.
  • Pause, for a holiday or an illness, without losing your streak.
  • Start from templates. Pick up to three habits and go.
  • Your data, as a file. Export and import whenever you like. The app keeps seven days of backups on the phone.

The only zeros we like.

The Nonzero app has no account and no ads, and your habits never reach us. To help improve the app, it sends anonymous usage counts and crash reports; one switch in Settings turns them off. Export your habits to a file whenever you like, and the app keeps seven days of backups on the device.

More on the method

Is Nonzero free?

Yes. The free plan holds up to 4 active habits, counting challenges and habits to break, with the ring, the year, the Today and Month widgets, the daily reminder, and export and backups. Archiving a habit frees its place and keeps its history.

What does Pro add?

Unlimited active habits, three more colour themes (Cobalt, Ember and Dusk) and a Lock Screen streak widget on iPhone. It's US$12.99 a year or US$24.99 once, and the App Store and Google Play show your local price.

Do I need an account?

No. There's nothing to sign up for. Your habits are kept on your phone, and we never receive them.

What if I miss a day?

Come back tomorrow and your streak carries on, with a gap where you missed. Only two zeros in a row end it.

Which languages?

Fourteen, from English and Español to 日本語 and Chichewa. The app follows your phone's language, and you can change it. This site offers your browser's.

Start with one page.

Pick one habit and the least that counts. That's the whole setup.
